Thanks everyone-got a lot of insight. Yes, I had carbo/taxol before, but at 150 units taxol instead of 120. I asked that it be reduced because of neuropathy and some other issues. May ask that it be changed again when I meed with onc. next week, however.
Also need clarification from him about solution "degrading" as mentioned by onc. nurse.I am always more comfortable with factual data based on past studies. My last CA125 was 86, down 26% from prior month.
Hope everyone has some spring flowers in their life this May!

mine was about 4-5 hrs long depending on how many people were there that day
I always get the taxol over three hours. They ramp the speed up 3x, taking my blood pressure every 15 minutes to make sure my body is handling it ok. Then I get the carbo over 30 minutes.
hi-my apointments for chemo when taking taxol carbo took 5 hours or 6 depending on the number of people there that day.. the doxil is only an hour, i had 9 taxol' carbo treatments they did 5 before surg then took a break so my bone marrow could take a break from it, and then 5 after my surg, my count was down to 11 -& `4 FOR AlMOST A YEAR BEFORE IT STARTED TO CLIMB AGAIN,good luck and my best to you did you have the taxol before , or is this the first experience with it ?
How often are you getting the taxol. My treatment after 1st reoccurance, was 1st week 1 hour of carbo and 1 hour of taxol. 2nd week 1 hour of taxol, 3rd week 1 hour of taxol. week off and then start again with the carbo/taxol. Giving it to me this way instead of all at once (a 4 hour infusion) was much more tolerable. Carbo has to be given all at once but studies show that breaking up the taxol is just as theraputic and is more tolerable for the patient.
That sounds quite a short time frame either way. Taxol I have had has been over six hours.
I don't know that there is a protocol for the length it should last, but it should be comfortable for you. If any IV goes in too quickly, it can burn, and even cause some allergic type reactions. It would also depend on the dose you are given. If it's mixed with a bigger bag of saline, it would take more time.
Hopefully someone else will come along with more information.
Best wishes to you as you start this fight again!
