I was browsing the "ask an expert" forum and noticed a detailed update about kimmie. All I can say is wow! I pray they get answers, help and hope.

Thanks Lori,  I just wanted to say you are "REALLY AWESOME"  for helping Kimmie get the right care.  Rose even said if it weren't for you she would not have pursued the right care.  You are exactly what this forum is about - caring, dedicated help.  It is wonderful we can help each other from miles away.  I have several email exchanges with Kimmie and will save them....good idea.   I'm still praying...  Shelly

Hi, Rose is really touched by all this support.  And, yes, she is very extraordinary.  So young and dealing with so much.  I'm glad for her b/c she knows she can just talk and ask questions of those she's met here.  Her Grandma and family are, understandably, so emotional that it's hard for her to go to them.  I'm glad she felt comfortable enough to go to the Chazy room.  She did say she's peeked in here and saw all the wonderful things said to her and Kimmie.

They are in CA, Palm Springs area, I think.  I don't know of anyone from there on the forum.  If anyone gets the name of the doctor let me know.  We can look her up on the AMA web site.  Anyone can do that.  It'll show if the doc has ever been reported and reports can be made against the doc, as well.  Oh, and if you had been speaking by email with Kimmie before she went into the hospital save the conversations.  I plan to do this and share it with their lawyer, if needed.  Kimmie was pretty open about the care she was NOT given.

I spoke with Rose for a long time last night in the chat room. She is a wonderful extraordinary girl! I just pray that they can make it through this. And I hope that she realizes how many of us are behind her all of the way. No matter what we cannot forget how dear Kimmie was treated through all of this. We have got to do something to keep this from happening anymore. It just is not right! I am so mad over this I could just spit nails!!! I hope that the lawyer they get will take this Dr through the wringer!

Kimmie's mom called the lawyer that visited them.  Her mom and daughter are as outraged as all of us. I think since they chose him it will be ok.

I agree with ireneo that it is hard to sit by and do nothing from a distance. I would at least like to send a little money to Rose. When I had my surgery and diagnosis last summer so many people gave us small gifts of cash, gift cards, groceries,etc. It added up to quite a substantial amount. Some gifts came from people I didn't even know. It helped us, and I'd like to be able to do the same for Rose. If anyone knows how to do this you can message me. Marie

They had a lawyer come talk to them, I think he/she went to the hospital too

This is a time when it would be great if there was someone from this board that lived in their area, could offer some support. I have no idea where they live and we don't want to presume we have the right to step in. But it's so hard to sit here from a distance and be so helpless. I agree that a lawyer that simply shows up on the doorstep is suspicious. No thanks. Didn't sleep well last night but I got some good prayer time in for them. Will keep on.

If the lawyer just showed up without being called by Rose, I'd shop around. Jan is right. A bad attorney will take advantage. I'm not one to usually cry out to sue, but this doctor must be held accountable. I'm sure there are good attorneys that will take it. I feel for Rose and pray Kimmie is going to get the miracle we are praying for. Marie

Just read this latest update on Kimmie.  If anyone knows how she is doing today (Wed), please post if you can.  I will continue to keep Kimmie and Rose in my prayers.

Please pray for Kimmie.  Her daughter Rose was in chat tonight and Kimmie has not responded to them since Sat. evening.   She said she felt funny and then became unconscious.   The drs. placed her on a ventilator this evening.  She really needs our prayers for a miracle.

Jan- Rose said a lawyer came to seem them in the hospital and said they do have a case.  I totally agree with you - it is unacceptable how she was treated.

Forget I said retain. Retain means pay up front. Get a lawyer who believes you have a strong case and they will take it on a contigency fee.  (No settlement = no lawyers fees. Don't you dare let them take more than 25% although 33 is customary.  They can live without it and you can't.  If the case is as strong as it looks there will be plenty of lawyers who will know it is easy money for them.

My outrage does no good so I will just pray that those idiots will now work extra diligently and leave no stone unturned in helping to end this nightmare for her.  My prayers are with you Kimmie and Rose.

PS: Rose, I know you don't have a lot of close family around you but i want you to talk to some adult about retaining a lawyer.  Do you have a family minister sweetie?  Just having read her story on here, I have no doubt that the actual facts and figures of this case will bear out a LARGE malpratice settlement.  That may not be much consolation, but it is what's right.  Remember, 90% of criminal cases are settled without trial and only 7% of medical malpractice cases go to court so your odds are very good that with a strong case like this you could see a settlement offer within 18 mths.  I know that sounds long, but with our judicial system that is actually quick.  Most other tort claims can take 2-5 yrs to settle.

Having been so sick myself, I have just heard the news of Kimmie. I have not read the update yet but intend to after I join my hands with all of you in praying for Kimmie and her family. I am just at loss for words.
