Hi There,
I need a little more information such as your age, your gyn history, are you having periods, have you had surgery, what medications are you on. A cyst in your ovary may be from ovulation. If you can get the actual report from the CT scan and type it in, I can comment further. take care!
Low platelets that can from an autoimmune disorder called ITP - I have pasted some information from this site below:
http://www.pdsa.org/itp-information/index.html
ITP, idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, also known as immune thrombocytopenic purpura, is classified as an autoimmune disease. In an autoimmune disease the body mounts an attack toward one or more otherwise normal organ systems. In ITP, platelets are the target. They are marked as foreign by the immune system and eliminated in the spleen, or sometimes the liver.
Researchers have identified more than eighty autoimmune diseases. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) estimates that 5% to 8% of the United States population, between 14 and 24 million people, suffer with autoimmune disease.
The number of individuals in the United States with ITP has been estimated to be approximately 200,000. In adults, about three times more women have the disease than men. In children, the ratio is about even. It affects all age and ethnic groups. There are about 100 new cases of ITP per million people per year. Approximately half of the new cases are in children
Here is my information. I am 34 years old. I have had heavy cycles and was told about 10 years ago I had polyps on my right ovary. I have had times where I have had no period then times of prolonged bleeding. In the past a quick fix was birth control bills. For quite a while now I have felt fatigue but was told it was due to general allergies and the fact I have 2 teenagers and a 9 month old. The only surgery I have had was a tubal after my 3rd child. Here are the results from my CAT Scan and also today I the doctor sent me for a PET Scan but says this is just precautionary...
CT Scan of the Chest with Contrast
There is a right hilar 17 x 11 mm lymph node noted. Precarinal lymph node measures 8-9 mm. No other enlarged lymphadenopathy. No evidence of pleural or pericardial effusion. Visualized opacified mediastinal vascular structures and airway appear unremarkable. No evidence of nodule, infiltrate, or consolidation.
Impression
Right hilar lymph node and nonspecific precarinal lymph node. Otherwise , negative study. Correlate clinically.
CT Scan of the Abdomen and Pelvis with Contrast
Limited lung bases appear unremarkable.
The liver, spleen, an dpancreas enhanced homogenously and are grossly unremarkable. The adrenal glands are unremarkable. Both kidneys enhance homogenously and show no evidence of hydronephrosis or perinephric fluid. The visualized opacified bowel and meseentery are clear. No free air or fluid in the abdomen or pelvis. No focal collection. No enlarged retroperitoneal or pelvic lymphadenopathy. Pelvic contents are grossly unremarkable. The abdominal aorta is normal in caliber. The gallbladder is unremarkable. There is a slight thickening of the mucosal flolds in the proximal small bowel. There is prominent uterus. The right ovary slightly enlarged and there is probably a 3.3 cm syst in the right ovary. There is fluid in the cul-de-sac and in the right parovarian and periterine area.
