mass that is solid and fluid filled

My surgery date is set for 4/11. I asked my doctors office some more details that I wanted to know about the mass that was discovered last week. It is 7 x 6 x 8 cm and fluid and some solid areas. This is why she wants to remove it. I am really scared about the solid areas. So fast growing too. I had my annual last year too and nothing was there. I keep thinking of what the chances that it may be a malignant growth. Anyone with something similar.

I am having a hysterectomy on 04/08 because of a dermoid cyst 8.5 x 6.5 on my right ovary.  I'm also nervous because it will be an open surgery because I'm so fat, and I'm wondering and worried bout how long it will take to recover.  Of course, I'm also worried about cancer, but I believe, from what I've been reading, that the chances are pretty slim for the typd of cysts you and I have (1 percent to 5 percent malignant, is what I've been reading).

I'm reading all the time, learning as much as possible about what to do, how it will work, how I will heal.  If you are having laproscopic surgery, your healing should be quicker.  If you are having a laparotomy, it may take long (laparotomy is an "open" surgery).

I'm reading that you will have alot of gas, that the doctors can give you a pill for, to help reduce the gas quickly, and that walking alleviates some of the gas.

I also read that recovery can be quick, or lengthy depending on your other factors... how old you are, do you have any health problems, etc.

I decided to write a good list of questions for when I see the oncologist next week.
If you have questions, and would like to ask something specific, I'd be happy to share my experiences.

God Bless,
Morrowville

Hi Vicky
My endoemetrioma (benign complex cyst) that was taken out a couple of years ago was about 7cm at its largest point and contained both liquid and solid areas.   Good luck with your surgery

Hi Vicky,
Is this mass on your ovary? if so then its probarbly a complex cyst , these contain both fluid and solid components and although they are more concerning they usually turn out to be benign. The chance of malignancy is approximately 5%  so the odds are quite good.  I hope it all turns out well with your surgery and realise that waiting is the worst, that what I found .

Take care  Angiexx
