Hi Chris and Julie, Thanks for your advice and info. I saw my oncologist and after he read the detailed report from the radiologist, he doesn't feel that it's necessary to do an MRI now. He feels that we should continue Topo.and repeat the CA125 monthly, and repeat the scan in 6-8 weeks. He said that my Ca125 has gone down steadily, until this 3 point upswing, and the liver area in question was not present on the last scan. He was quite confident that this is the proper course to follow, and said that 6-8 weeks will not make a difference in my disease. I've trusted my life to him, so I'll accept his decision, but that little question always tugs at our mind.
Thanks again and have a pleasant and healthy future ladies. Jane
I was diagnosed stage IV with mets to the liver in Nov 05. Mostly the spots in my liver are pretty well kept under control with chemo. But there is a procedure called radiofrequency ablation that can be used to burn the tumors out of the liver. Before being done, the Drs want the tumors as small as possible (around 1cm) and they normally can only do 2 or 3 at a time. I have had this done twice now with successful results both times. The problem for me is that the cancer keeps coming back. At the moment, the tumors that have come back are holding steady on the chemo.

Hi,
I am sorry to hear your OVCA has spread to the liver. My OVCA also spread to the liver. I was diagnosised with a bordlerline tumor in Apr07 and in July08 a rountine ct scan showed 2 lesions on my liver. I went to MD Anderson and the lesions were determined to be malignant and the chemotherapy they recommended for me was a combination of Oxaliplatin,Avistan,5-FU and leocorvin ( sp?). My Gyn. Oncologists at MD Anderson did consult with a liver cancer speciast at MD Anderson. I am just finishing my last treatment today and will have a ct scan on wednesday. The lesions on my liver were small 8mm and 13 mm. I have had this chemotherapy every 2 weeks for 3 months. I asked my doctor at Md Anderson why I wasn't a candidate for surgery and she said because I had two lesions on the liver. I will post an update once I have my CT scan and let you know what the results are. Some insurance companies won't approve Avistan for OVCA...but I would appeal any decisions by your insurance company. My side effects from this treatment were minimal. Good Luck and let me know what treatment you oncologist recommends. Julie
Dear Jane,
I have stage 3c with mets to liver. As soon as you put something in your profile I will be glad to tell you what I am doing for mine. It is a new combo. I am sorry, and I have good reasons, but I just don't answer people who don't fill in their profiles. If you want personal info from us, the least you can do is share a little info about yourself.
