I want to thank everyone who e-mailed me when I first posted a question on hypercalcemic small cell ovarian tumor.  My friend's daughter was diagnosed with this horrible disease less than a year ago.  Yesterday, she passed away at the age of 19.  A beautiful girl, sophomore at John's Hopkins University, who wanted to be a doctor.  All who know this family are devastated.  Rest in peace, Katie.

Makes me so angry that this disease has no boundaries or limits.  It's ashame to see such a beautiful young life taken no needlessly.  My prayers go to the family.

It's so sad her life ended at such a young age from a disease that is so selfish! Not sure whether to be sad or angry. Probably both. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy for this loss. May you and her family find peace and comfort in the days and weeks to come. You are all in my prayers.
