I am guessing that they are doing chemo prior to your mother having surgery? Sometimes doctors due this if they feel that it will shrink the tumors enough for a more sucessful hysterectomy and staging surgery.
If your mother has already had surgery and been staged as stage 3, she will more than likely undergo at minimum of 6 rounds of treatment, usually taxol/carboplatium.
If your mother is undergoing chemo and still having issues with ascites, then maybe they need to drain it or possibly a different chemo.
I am not really certain if I understant your question.
Best of luck to you and your family, please continue to post and ask questions.

honestly, im not sure about the line of treatment. However being diabetic and hypertensive with ascities she needs to cut out the salt and obviously sugars...however as for surgery...i dont really know is the ascites still present? Is it not being relieved? There are ways to get rid of that if no salt diet doesnt work. The main thing she shouldnt eat is salt...i also heard from a bunch of lovely ladies on here that Ovarian Cancer diminishes vitamin d levels..which helps you regain some strength to fight it. I am a pretty bad advice giver but maybe the other girls could help me out with more indepth information on the vitamin d and stuff and what to expect as of line of treatments
