This above is very good advice, I would also delay the DNC untill after you visit with an gyn/Onoc, get some more accurate tests done before they cut into anything. 95% of all cysts are benign, but you do have to make sure first that it is NOT cancer. Good Luck Marty
The girls have given you great advice. Please talk to your Dr and tell him that you would prefer that a gyn/onc do your surgery.
Yes it is a very scary time for you. But the feelings you are having are normal. Just try not to let them over take you. Try to think positive. And if it should turn out to be cancer then hopefully they will have caught it early.
Know that we are all here for you and will try to help you get through the next several weeks. The waiting is the hardest part.

Bandnmom - not to scare you, but, I have to agree with Cindy.....if OvCa is found the prognosis is better when the surgery is performed by a GYN/Oncologist. A GYN/Oncologist has 3 years additional training in gynocological issues...also, as you mentioned you went to the OB, most OB/GYNs spend lots of time delivering babies and do not concentrate their practice on gynocological abnormalities. Please do not allow your doctor to perform any surgery until you have seen the expert...also, GYN/Oncologists deal with many benign conditions....there could be many reasons whey your CA125 is elevated, especially if you are pre-menopausal. A CA125 cannot diagnosis OvCa...it is best used in conjunction with other tests, CT Scans, Transvaginal Sonograms, PET Scans and of course biopsies. Also, most Ovarian Cysts are benign.
There are so many things that could be going on...the experts need to be called in.
Just my opinion.
Best of luck and let us know how it goes.

Wow Cindy! See...i am so thankul for the help! I honestly never thought of that! I meen of course if it does turn out its cancer of course i would be with an gyn oncologist but i never thought about it b4 surgery! I will definately bring this up to her at my next appointment in a few days! Thank you again!! You all are wonderful people!
Hello ... I'm sorry and please take what I have to say very seriously. Okay, your CA125 is elevated. You doctor suspects cancer. You are going to have surgery. Testing done afterwards. Why isn't your doctor refering you to a gyn oncologist???? She is not qualified for the kind of surgery you would need if you have cancer. I'm not trying to scare you but your doctor isn't taking the appropriate steps if she thinks you have cancer. We'll find out later isn't the way it goes. Have you had any scans? A CT or a PetCT? Please make an appointment with a gyn oncologist and get a second opinion. If it is ovarian cancer the first surgery is the most important !! Your doctor should know that! I was very comfortable with my regular gyn but he didn't try something that he is NOT qualified for. She should welcome a second opinion. Rule out cancer before the surgery!!! Ovarian Cancer is rare but your doctor isn't a qualified gyn oncologist!!! If she suspects ovarian cancer let her know that you are not going to take any chances. This is a professional situation not personal. Hope this helps....Cindy
Thanks for your help. I am very comfortable with my doctor and i know she will take care of me either way! Thanks again for your help. Best wishes to you
We have all been in your position. The laproscopy and DNC should be relatively easy, and very conclusive. If the results are positive--and they are usually NOT positive--for cancer, a hysterectomy will probably follow within days.
Please know if, by chance, you should have to have chemo, that the chemo drugs used in treatments for ovarian cancer are some of the best tolerated treatments of any chemos. Very manageable.
So, take a deep breath. It's probably nothing. If it is, it sounds like you have a very thorough doctor who is taking no chances. You're in good hands. Best wishes.
