Its so hard to determine ovarian cancer. The more test they do I say the better before surgery. I had emergerncy surgery to remove a mass on my right ovary that was about 4 inches by 6inches and burst. So I had a cut from belly button down. I needed at least 4 weeks to heal. Doctor would have liked me to push it to 6 but i was feeling good. I planned on going back to work but I ended up needed chemo and it was so strong(doc want to make if any cells got out of mass he got it) that I could not work.

If you can go to work and not lift you can probably go back sooner but they tell you not to drive for at least 2 weeks.

Good luck!

It is hard to say what is normal when it comes to ovarian issues so I have learned.  I would think that seeing a GYN/ONC is the best hands to be in for sure especially if there is a mass in your lt ovary.  I can tell you the more tests they run the more likely they will be sure to get everything out that needs to come out.  You didn't mention how old you are; which can play a factor.  I can give you my recent surgical history: I have had 2 surgerys this fall - one in August to remove Borderline tumors and remove the rt. fallopian tube and then again had to be cut open (same spot) to remove my rt. ovary in early Nov.  I am 36 and not in the "best" shape... I am overweight by about 40 pounds but I otherwise I am healthy and can walk up a flight of stairs without being winded.  It sounds like from your job you must be in decent shape to do all that physical labor every day.  I can tell you that I bounced back from the surgerys pretty well.  You are told you can't lift things more than 20 pounds for like 8 weeks; but I really do think it is a person to person restriction.  If you are prone to vomiting tell the doctors and nurses and they can give you good meds to prevent that.  One of the best things I found post surgery recoup is to sleep in a recliner chair.  I really felt that I was rested after sleeping in the chair; I think it is because it keeps you in one position.  It is really important to drink lots of fluids with some vitamins in it like Gatorade or Vitamin Water. If they are too sweet water them down.  It is also important to tell to the doctors and nurses everything that is going on with you; don't be a hero tell them if you are having pain or whatever is causing uncomfort they can fix it.  You are your best advocate for your health; so continue to ask questions.  Be well!
