ovarian cysts/tumor

I went to see my Dr. because of pain in my lower ab and pain in my lower back.  Had this pain for over 2 months. Normally when I ovulate I have a cyst and it is painful but eventually goes away.  Dr. did a vaginal sonogram than an abdominal sonogram taking measurments.  First of a cyst on the right ovary than on the left.  Says he is very concerned about the left one, says it is larger and it has white dots in it.  Runs a CA-125 and tells me to wait 10 days to call back. He calls the one on the left a tumor and tells me that if the test comes back positive that I need to have surgery.  My question is if the test comes back negative should I get a second opinion(why would I want to keep something foreign in my body).

It would depend upon the size and what he is going to do in two months.  Do you have a copy of the ulta sound report?  That might help your decision also you should know what your CA 125 level is.  However it is not very reliable before menopause.  Good luck

The only way to be certain of what we are growing in our bodies is through a biopsy, and that involves surgery.  As far as the second opinion goes, I would go too  a Gyn/Onc, since they have additional education in the treatment of women's disorders.  They are not just for people with cancer.  For the almighty blood test, it is not 100% accurate.  So yes, get a second opinion from a Gyn/Onc and go from there.
