ovarian cysts

just had pelvic scan checking cysts had for years.  left ovary has simple unilocular cyst 3.3 x 3.6 x 3.4 cm.overall ovary size 4.9 x 4.2 x 3.8 cm smaller cysts on right ovary.  The left one has increased from l2/28/09 which was 3.0 x 2.7 x 2.7 cm. I am almost 80,and have read in a woman my age there is a good possibility it could get "funny" cancerous.  I am really think it is time to have them out,had these cysts since early twenties and tired of worring about them.  Comments Please.

thanks for answering and comments. I've had dozens of CT pelvic scans over the years, and the blood test, since I was 24. It is just that now I keep hearing that "old" women like me with cysts have a good chance they will turn into ovarian cancer,so since they have enlarged since the last vaginal scan
maybe it is time to have them out, would have saved me
a lot of time and energy had I had them removed along with everything else. Seeing my gynocologist in a few weeks, hear what he has to say,and decision time...

Ovarian cysts in anyone after menopause can be concerning.

With ovarian cancer, a cyst if left in your body forever that is not cancerous, will not turn, it either is or it isn't, it doesn't become.

Have they done CT Scans? CA125 blood tests?  Not to scare you, but please consider being seen by a GYN/Oncologist, no I do not think that it is cance, these doctors are the experts with 3 years additional training and if it is cancer, your want them doing the surgery.

Best of luck and let us know how things go.
