ovarian mass & cyst
I had a intervaginal ulatra sound because I have been having UTI symptoms but didn't have a UTI. This is what the test showed
Uterus is 8.6 x 4.4 x 5.3 cm Endometrial stripe thickness is 15 mm. This is thickened, with a cystic type of appearance.
Left ovary measures 2.9 x 2.3 x 1.9 cm. There is a 1.5 cm simple cyst on the left ovary.
Right ovary measures 3.6 x 3.6 x 2.1 cm. There is a 2.7 x 1.6 cm solid and echogenic mass of the right ovary. This demonstrates blood flow.
Endometrial stripe thickening. Differential diagnosis includes endometrial polyps versus hyperplasia; neoplasia unlikely in this age group. Please correlate for abnormal vaginal bleeding.
2.7 x 1.6 cm solid appearing on right ovarian mass, not seen on the prior CT of April 2007. Recommend MRI of the pelvis with IV contrast in 6 weeks to further evaluate.
I have been on the depo shot for 10 years, last shot was in March, 2007. I had to stop taking birth control due to a blood clot in my leg that broke off and went to my lungs (DVT & PE). I have had 2 periods since then and they are awful. I have never had bad cramps before or bled hard. Now I am in so much pain on my period and bleed so hard--changing tampon every hour and changing clothes 3-4 times in the middle of the night. I have been to the ER once because of the super heavy bleeding. I am on coumadin for the clot so I am not sure if ths is a factor. I am also on Dilantin (10 years for seizures) & Pravachol ( high cholesterol). My grandma on my dads side died from cancer, started with ovarian cancer and spread through her whole body. My mom had surgery for endometriosis.
I would just like to know what all this means since I can't see the doc til Monday, this is going to be a long weekend. THANKS

Your doctor will probably recommend an evaluation of the lining of your uterus. this can be done with an office biopsy or a minor surgical procedure called a D&C (dilation and curettage). The mass in your ovary may be a benign tumor such as a fibroma or dermoid. but it may be worthwhile to look at this by laparoscopy

I am 28 years old and did not have a period while on the depo shot. I spotted every once in awhile, but nothing major.
