pain and GI problems, please help

Mid-November, I had excruciating L ovary pain. I'm 41. period was 2 weeks early.  I intended to make an appt. with my gyn but then suddenly had extreme fullness and gas type pain in my upper chest and diaphragm area, then also noticed that I could not have a bowel movement.  All in one day. It felt not like I was constipated, but that there was no activity going on beyond my upper abdomen, and that all food was stuck right below my ribcage. I tried every type of stool softener, laxative, and got absolutely no result. Then I got chills and fever & nausea. Went to the ER after 5 days of no BM and they diagnosed diverticulitis.  After dishcarge from hosptial afew days later, still didnt feel right. I  again had terrible pain in upper gastric area, with nausea, but this time, no constipation, but had excruciating pain in my R ovary. Period came 2 wks early, w/ profuse bleeding.  It felt like it was about to burst.  I went to a GP and got a pelvic US and TV ultrasound, they came back normal. But, a student performed the test and I think she had a lot of difficulty finding my ovaries to begin with.  I also had an upper endoscopy, which came back normal.  I made a point to mention the ovarian pain that seems to coincide with the intense Gi problems to the physicians, and they don't really see any significance to it.  I have had a long term sinus disease illness with 5 surgeries in the past year,  which has finally been cured.  I am currently out of work and on COBRA health insurance which runs out on Jan 31st. Please give me  advice as to how to explain this to my gyn, especially since the ultrasound was neg.  I don't want to be brushed off, because the ultrasound was neg. because sometimes they are neg. with ovarian cancer.  I'm really scared and want to take care of this problem before my health insurance runs out.   thank you for your help

Hi There,
it is really scary to get such horrible pain. I have to say, it does sounds like you have had a good evalaution. With a normal ultrasound and endoscopy, I think of really bad heart burn as a likely cause of your distress.  You should definitely follow up with your gyn for a repeat ultrasound if you still feel that something is wrong.
please let us know how you are doing
take care

It is not always the answer but why not ask for a CA 125 test...at least you'd have a marker.
