pain left side

I have been experiencing pain on lower left abdomen pelvic pain and nausea. Also lower back pain. I saw my colostomy Dr as I thought it was connected to that.I am postmenopausal and have been taking premarin for over 10 years. I had a hysterectomy at age 25 (I am now 57)they only left my ovaries. I had a cat scan and it shows some type of dense mass and they looked up a cat scan from a year ago and it was there then but smaller. It has  been years since I have had an internal. I was told the ovaries were not there any longer, so not necessary to look for them. I am confused and I am worried. Can you shed some light on this please?

According to my former Dr that once I went thru menopause the ovaries dry up. He always checked for them and I did ask why. He said they check so they make sure they don't feel anything because if something was there it would indicate a problem.I moved and the Drs have never done a pelvic exam on me.I have questioned this from time to time. Now this problem pops up. when they found it a year ago I don't know why nothing was said unless they missed it. So here I am confused and it hurts.on my side to pelvic area.I will have the ultra sound Wed so I won't have long to wait. Thank You for your response.
