My mom has been taking the tart cherry for over 3 years. My family has a lot of medical problems. She feels the difference with the cherry juice, but the acid in the juice recently began to upset her stomach. She now takes tart cherry capsules from Fruit Advantage www.fruitadvantage.com Her stomach isn't upset anymore
One other thing if she is up to it--and I admit I have not tried this yet--but I was at a women's conference last week and it was conducted by a breast-cancer survivor. She told us all to drink t Tablespoons of Red TART Cherry juice a day (youcan drink it palin or in watr or other jusice). But she swore that if you do that religiously each morning, it gives you the equivalent of 10 times a Tylenol without the stomach upset.
I would discuss your concerns with the doctor--there are lots of medictions they can use--and give her something for her stomach as well. We all react differently to different drugs. For example, my mom can't take aspirin or penicillin, while most of the world can. I can't wear a lof of perfumes because of some ingredient in them or I will be nauseous to the point of vomiting--so they may just have to try a few things and give her something for her stomach as well as the pain.
Hang in there!
PS: You'll probably go Ugh, but if you mom likes yogurt, cottage cheese, or especially buttermilk, tking these first helps protect the stomach from upset.
Unfortunately the pain medicine can suppress your appetite and mess up your digestive system, which of course leads to more pain...
I'm so sorry to hear your mom (and you!) are going thru this, I hope things improve soon.
If the pain is not easing she needs to call the doctor as something else could be going on. Is her stomach bloated and hard? What color is it when she is vomiting? If it is a dark green, get her to the ER immediately. This is a sign of a bad infection. Try getting her to eat a couple of crackers and a cup of hot tea to ease her stomach. Hope this helps. Kasie
i forgot to add something mum takes oxynorm as she feels its working better than the paracetamol/codiene the hospital gave her, i would have thought she would have been given stronger tablets than that for the pain.
