Update - bilateral cysts elevated ca 125

Hi,

I am posting my post-surgery update.  I hope this will help others who are concerned that they have Ovarian Cancer.  When I was researching ovarian cancer on the internet pre-surgery I felt I had a 95%+ chance of having ovarian cancer due to having bilateral ovarian cysts (both the size of oranges and growing) and I had a CA 125 of 256.

Luckily I am cancer free.  I had a hysterectomy with the removal of my ovaries.  during suregry the dr found I had severe endometriosis - I never knew I had endometriosis before the surgery.  In addition to my female organs, my appendix, omentum and 12 inches of my small intestine were removed due to the severe nature of the endometriosis - they said my small intestine was almost completely twisted and closed whcih is why it needed to be removed.

I am very thankful I do not have cancer.  I spent 11 days in the hodpital due to the surgery and then developng the C DIFF infection.  I have been home for about a week and getting stronger everyday.

Hopefully this will help someone not worry as much -

Thanks,
Sarah

Congratulations!  You've survived the procedure and fortunately you don't have "the big C".  Still, it's a serious surgery and you need to treat yourself well during the recuperation period.

Be sure you get the written pathology report, which will document the surgery and the results.  You want that for your files.

Sounds like you're relieved and happy and that's great.  I hope the loss of part of your intestine will not be an issue for you.  I also hope you'll keep coming here to tell your story;  so many of the women who first arrive here are convinced they're going to get a bad result.

Im hoping in in the 99% benign group, which I have had 3 docs look at my report and they all agree it looks benign...however moral of my story is that Reading the Internet , about misdiagnosis, malignant transformation etc has scared me into thinking that anything is possible.

That's wonderful news! Im so glad that your cancer free and recovering. That is encouraging for others that you write this  post. I have a 8cm dermoid cyst, that was found on us when I was pregnant,  which is coming out on OCt. 20. The first thing my doctor told me was not to read the Internet, and of course what did I do, i researched the Internet high and low and made myself sick to my stomach with worry.
