Recently I got a dull pain or pressure on my lower abdomen, and my doctor sent me for Ultrasound, blood test and urine test. After scanning on my lower abdomen, the lab lady also did an internal vagina ultrasound and it shows that I have a 4.5cm cyst on my right ovary and a small one on my left ovary, and a polyp on my uterus. Now my doctor is sending me for MRI, which got a long waiting list. I am worried about whether it is a cancer cyst or not, so I asked her about my blood test, as I understand from the blood test, they can check for a protein called CA125, as this protein is normally found in the blood but levels can rise in women with ovarian cancer. However, she told me she did not ask the lab to test for cancer on my blood test, so it only shows my cholesterol is a bit high.
I am really upset as I rather know from the blood test either it shows signs of cancer or not, that is because the MRI got a long waiting list and I am now have anxiety of not knowing until I have the MRI. Also, when I check on the internet, it said to detect for ovarian cancer, they usually do blood test or a CT scan. So can somebody tells me if the MRI is necessary or will the MRI able to tell whether my large ovarian cyst got cancer cell or not. I am really puzzled, if somebody can give me some insight I would be much appreciated.
