really bad night sweats

i had my right ovary and fallopian tube removed 4 weeks ago due to a very large cyst being attached to my ovary. Ever since then i have suffered really awful and bad night sweats. I have discussed it with the doctor but he has said it is a hormone unbalance and the left ovary is playing catch up and needs to work for both ovaries now the right one has gone and this may take a while. In the mean time i am literally surviving on 2 hours sleep a night. I am boiling hot one minute window open quilt off then the next minute shivering cold. Is there any thing i can do to help me sleep and counter act these night sweats?? thankyou.

I am sorry for your suffering! Hopefully, your remaining ovary will "get with the program" soon!! If that does not happen soon, you could go on a birth control pill. They sort of "override" or "replace" ovarian hormones. So that can resolve the menopausal type symptoms (in your case night sweats) but I do not know if it will just prolong the situation or not.

If you are close to menopausal age, there is a greater chance that your other ovary may not make up for the one that was removed. In that case, you may want to go on hormone replacement if this problem continues much longer.
