recovery from laparascopy

Hi ladies.  So, I had a laparoscopy one week ago tomorrow.  All went well, there was no indication of cancer.  We are still waiting for the results of the biopsy, but i feel confident that they would have known when they were in there.  They did drain 2 large cysts and I think my oncologist was surprised at the amount of endometriosis they found.  Anyway, i am just trying to find out how everyone felt after this surgery.  I am back at work, which is good, but I am having a hard time breathing normally.  I feel like I have to breathe hard and deep.  Also, it's hard for me to even walk up and down stairs, which is not normal for me.  I had a blood clot scare.  My left calf has been hurting and aching so I went in and did a scan yesterday, but it was negative for a clot.  I am not sure why my leg would be hurting the way that it does or why I can't breathe well, but I am just hoping to hear from some of you on how you felt post surgery and what I can do to feel better.

Have you had a chest xray. It is possible to get fluid in your lungs after surgery and from lying in bed after surgery Just a possibility. I sure wasn;t back up after a week. I think more like 2, but have had 2 surgeries since then. A friend  of mine is a pulmonologist and he would be at my house with the thing you breath in and try to push up to a certain level, which he did after the surgeries too. I did get fluid around the lung after the 2nd surgery in the plueral cavity that had to be drained. Just a thought.  best wishes donna

Wow, yes, see if you can take more time to heal.  You are feeling the gas still and that means you are back to soon.  They puff you up like a baloon with gas.
And the gas they put you out with.....
and the things they tug and cut and twist, you would not want to see!

It is major surgery through small holes, just as Lori said.

take it easy, your body needs it!

OH my!  You are back at work already?  Do you have a sit down job?  After mine, it was at least a month before I was physically better.  I'd get tired really easily.  Is there any way you can take another week off?  You don't want to push yourself too hard.  In the end, your recovery will be longer.  Don't think that just because you had a laparoscopy that you didn't have major surgery.  As my doctor told me, it's major surgery through smaller holes.

If you can't take more time off, I'd make sure that you get lots of rest at home.  Maybe your doctor can give you an RX for another week off, in case you need that for work.

So glad you had a nice outcome!

Take care and rest up!
