Yes, you definitely want to see to this right away. It is wonderful that you had 9 years. My onc nicked my bladder in an effort to NOT knick my ovaries and spill anything into the abdominal cavity. I consider myself lucky on that. It must have looked like a train wreck in there. I have never had remission so... There are so many woman that never recur and after 9 years you've done really well. None the less, stuff does come back. It isn't the same but my MIL's breast cancer came back after 13 years so anything is possible. You of course know that you don't want to take chances.
Good luck

If you are experiencing the same symptoms you had originally, then I would suggest that you visit your Dr as soon as possible, as many times when you have a recurrence you can experience the same symptoms as you did in the beginning. I do not want to scare you by any means but if you were dx at stage 3 it is highly possible.
I hope that there is another reason for your problems, but please see your Dr. and if for nothing else to ease your mind.
Chris
Thank you for your comments. My ovarian cancer was a stage 3A borderline cell tumor. During the surgery the tumor, larger than expected, was accidently cut into. The positive fluid escaped into my body, hence the chemo therapy and hysterectomy. All my checkups and tests have been great since. The reason for my query is that currently my stomach feels swollen and distended, the same silent symptoms nine years ago.
my sister had a hysterectomy unrelated to OVCA
then the cysts were discover and she had a BSO
two years later was her first recurrence
shes having chemo in her peritoneum now (another 2 years)
for her second recurrence
i pray so hard u dont have a recurrence

Do you know what stage your cancer was determined to be? What type treatment did you have? I do know that the longer you go in remission, the more likely you have been freed from ovarian cancer's grip. There's always a possibility, no matter what our Stages are determined to be that it could return. But, the lower the Stage, (and a few other variables) the less likely it will return. Did you have chemo treatments?
Teresa
It can return. The longer the remission, and if it was stage 1 or 2, the less likely. But It returned on a stage 2 lady at my clinic about 9 yrs. later. Hope it does not. Donna
