robotic surgery

I have endermetrial cancer and currently being scheduled for a complete hysterectomy.  My doctor would like to do the surgery robotically.  MY only concern is that he has only performed 2 robotic surgeries before. I am concerned about him not having enough experience with the robotics.  What are your thoughts on this?  DO I have a vital concern?

Hi There,
I am having robotic surgery on Oct 15th. I agree with what is said above. This is the latest and greatest in surgery so if your doc has done them, then more power to him or her.  I think this is extremely  cutting edge surgery and has huge potential. Does your doctor seem nervous about doing it robotically? I think they have to have quite a bit of experience before they can do these on their own. It is better than simple laparoscopy as they get a 3 D view of everything. I think you will do just wonderfully and I pray for a great outcome. Keep the faith

Hi ,
I don,t know much about this type of surgery either , the doctor doing your surgery must have been recently trained because its a fairly new procedure . Personally I would like a doctor with a few more of these procedures under his belt and would check out the sucess rate as well . That is just my personal opinion though.
Good luck with your surgery.

Best wishes Angie

I too hope you have a smooth surgery.  I have heard it is the best and newest surgery out there.  My Onc in Clearwater has specialized training to be able to do this surgery..so even though your Onc might only have 2 surgeries under his belt..he was specifically trained for it.  Good luck..keep us posted~~~~Joanne

Hi Nikki,

I would love to be able to tell you something positive but unfortunately I simply don't know enough about this type of surgery. I noticed your posting because there was a segment on one of our current affairs shows about it recently. But it was very brief, though they did have positive things to say about this type of surgery.
Mainly I just wanted to wish you all the very best with the surgery and hope you have a speedy recovery time... Regards... Janet
