sex before surgery

Is it normal for a person to want sex after finding out she has been diagnose with ovarian cancer?
Is it normal for her to continue to want it before the surgery?

This discussion is related to What should I expect before and after surgery?.

I don't find it out of the ordinary..and I would celebrate it...because for me and this is only me...once I had the surgery I have found that my sexual urges are far and few between!!!!  It suxs!!!!!!  I also seem to have them in waves....I'll feel intense desire for a week or so straight and then it seem to go away for a while...a LONG while!!!  Good luck and have fun if it doesn't hurt you!!!~~~~Joanne

Just because you have been dxd with cancer doesn't mean you life is over.  You have to keep living with it!  Why not want sex?  It's like needing love, water, air, companionship.  My onc said, "We may not have the cure for ovarian cancer, but we know how to keep you alive.'  So keep on living - more power to you - sex after the hysterectomy comes slowly and gently, differently - enjoy what you can from life.

It may be a reaction to shocking news, facing her mortality and wanting to live life to the fullest. Once we realize life does have a beginning and end (for years most of us ignore that part), we tend to change our priorities and focus more on relationships and making memories and less on buying the new couch or getting upset over someone in traffic.
