Hi,
The normal CA125 reading is below 35 and for some of us it is a very good indicator of progression of disease. I am one of those ladies, my oncologist follows my readings carefully because it has always proved to be correct for me. We repeat it every month
In 2007 I was staged 4B after my surgery because my OVCA had spread to my lymph nodes.
The other more important indicator of disease, are scans which obviously you're not ready to have, my CT scan is repeated every 3 months and that shows if cancer is obviously evident in my organs, or lymph nodes.
A clear scan, and normal CA125 are the goal.
I hope this information has been helpful.
Good Luck,
Jane
thats it ?
no more else ?
Ask the chemo nurses to give you a copy of your "CA-125" results from before the first chemo and the results from after the first chemo. Check to see if the second result is lower than the first result. That would be a good indication that the treatment is working. The CA-125 isn't always a reliable marker for Ovarian Cancer but if the number is going down that is usually a good thing.
