Looking to talk - going to start the diag

Hi  ladies, not here looking for smypathy, I am just sitting on this sea saw of wondering what happens next tommarow I go for a visit with the doctor - looks like I have a large mass on my ovary and that's all I really know.  found on a CT scan when they were checking my kidneys because I keep having blood in my urine and some spotting.  I guess it is human nature to expect the worse, I know I am at high risk, - I am 49 and have been on hormone replacement and I wonder if I made a big mistake taking hormones I had a hystrectomy when I was 27. anyway any thoughts or encouragement?

Hi,
Sorry that you are going through this , the waiting for tests and results is the worst!! . What doctor have you seen ? was it a gynaecologist ?  If not you need to be referred to one . You may be sent for a trans vaginal ultrasound , this gives clear pictures of the uterus and ovaries etc , you may also have a blood test called a ca125 that measures a certain protein in the blood of some women (not all) with ov cancer . The blood test is more reliable for women who have already been diagnosed and is used as a reccurance monitor. Im not really sure about the role of HRT , I never took any after my hysterectomy and I think there are a lot of conflicting opinions on it. I  know its hard , but try not to worry too much . I hope everything goes well for you at your appointment , please let us know how you get on .

Take care and Best wishes Angie
