thickened uterine lining and cysts on ovaries - a relationship?

I had a TVU 3 days ago which showed thickened uterine lining and cysts and fluid on ovaries. I am 49 and perimenopausal with a family history of cancer plus my own breast cancer. I had an endometrial biopsy and await the results and will have a pelvic MRI tomorrow. I am just curious if there is a relationship between the thickened uterine lining and the cysts and fluid on the ovaries. If you've had this experience or know the answer, I'd be so grateful. My doctor is not forthcoming with information. The PA told me I had "a lot going on down there," and this is some of what she told me, but I just want to know if there is a relationship between what's going on in the uterus and what is going on with the ovaries. Thanks!

The MRI is fine they just show different things. I am not sure there is always a clear corrolation between Ovaries and Uterus except both are regulated by hormones. Things develop seperately because the Uterus is enclosed. Things do not necessarily spread between them. I had Ovarian cancer but nothing in my Uterus but normal fibroids which were not related or Cancerous. Many women have fibroids and many women have benign Ovarian cysts which resolve by themselves. In my case I got Cancer because I had the BRCA1 mutation in my genetics which is not common unless you have a lot of relatives with Ovarian, breast or Prostate Cancer before 50. I had many close relatives with these Cancers. I person saying you have a lot going on down there simply means you have a lot going on down there not particalrly that it is Cancer. I hope it all turns out to be benign.

Nobody likes to wait and worry. You are normal there.

Forgot to answer your other question. I do not know why they have chosen MRI over CT scan. No one explained that to me.

Thanks for replying. I have cysts on one ovary and fluid on the other so not both. Do you know if there is a relationship between things going on with the ovaries and things going on with the uterus? The MRI is tomorrow and I'm sure I'll have the results by Tuesday the latest and biopsy results of uterus should be back by Wednesday. Waiting is the hardest part.

Lets hope the pelvic MRI goes well. Having cysts on both Ovaries points to them being benign. It is rare to have Cancer in both Ovaries. Are they doing the MRI to cut down on radiation? They always do CT Scans on me.
