CT Scan and Transvaginal ultrasound differ

I have been having some colon and lower abdominal pain, pain on intercourse, and tenderness. My doctor ordered a CT. The ct said I had a possible ovarian mass 6cm on the right side that needed further review, and on the left it mentioned adnexal cyst 3cm.  The scan also indicated that I had thickening in the colon on the ascending colon, and in the sigmoid/descending colon.  due this they had me see a ob gyn the next day(havent gone in 9 yrs) who did a transvaginal ultrasound.  The dr watched as the gal did it and they could not find the mass on the right, and determined the cyst on the left was actually a 6 by 7 fibroid.  I was also scheduled for a  colonoscopy  that week-From that they said I had hemroids and diverticulosis.   The GI sent the report to the Ob, and they indicated laproscopic hysterectomy- I am done w/ kids, had a tubal 10 yrs ago, 12 years prior same ob did surgery for endometriosis and commented I had adhesions on my colon and some day i'd be back- so I figured all the constipation, bleeding and fullness is from that.  My question- What happened to the mass on the right? I asked the doctor and he said sometimes technicians put the LEFt Right  stickers on wrong- but it was a ct.  I decided to opt for the hystectomy but could not do it as soon as they wanted due to work.  I have had no blood work done.  Any ideas?

Years ago, I had a CT done for abdominal problems and it showed ovarian cysts, my Gyn did the TVUS and nothing showed.  I was told that the CT will show cysts that aren't there and the TVUS is more reliable.  Never had another cyst show up until I was diagnosed with cancer 20 years later.

Me too.  My CT stated I had an enlargment of my left ovary suspicious for a neoplastic mass with a mildly prominent right ovary, but surgery proved it to actually be primary in my right fallopian tube with invasion into the adjacent ovary.

Hi - I had the same thing where the CT and the Pelvic U/S differed.  My doctor told me that the pelvic is usually more accurate.  I had surgery on the 12th of November and it turned out that the pelvic was right.  Keep up with your scheduled appts just to keep this in check. Hugs xoxo
