vag. ultrasound showed thickening

I'm 34 and I had a vagianal ultrasound May 2, they called me with the results, said I had thickening and they want to do a endo biopsy. It was scheduled for May 9, but the doctor had to reschedule and now it's not until May 30. I just wondering what could this possible mean? Are they looking for cancer?

Thank you very much for your insite. It does help alot to hear what someone else is experiencing.

My symptoms sounds alot like yours even the weight gain, when you are trying to lose weight. It's a never ending battle. I haven't even been back to the doctor to tell her ALL my symptoms. I wonder if I should tell her next week when I go for the biopsy for just wait until the results come back from that?

I'm to reserve to speake up sometimes that can be a big down fall for me. I feel like if I tell her everything she will look at me like I'm a hypochondriac, because how can one person have all those symptoms. Then at times I feel like it's in my head that's why I waited so long to even see a doctor. It wasn't until the pain got so bad that I really thought something was wrong.

I just want answers and something to help me, not mask what ever it is.

Thanks,
Kendra

Hi Kendra,
I found a website which explains the kinds of endometrial hyperplasia. You can find the information if you search under the topic:

Classification of Endometrial Hyperplasia

http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/507187
Is the article I found. I am sure there are many more like this one.

I was diagnosed with minimal or simple endometrial hyperplasia. My symptoms are combined with many other ones because I have two conditions. So this may not be of much help for you. Basically I had prolonged bleeding and I am postmenopausal and 53. I also had cramps and pain.

My other condition is not yet diagnosed. And those symptoms are numerous; fatigue, abdominal bloating, swelling, rigidity, nausea, pelvic pain, early satiety, weight gain of 20 plus pounds when I don't eat enough to gain and was even trying to lose weight!, etc. I also look about 4 to 5 months pregnant. It so embarrassing that I don't like to go out in public. I have worse symptoms after exertion especially with exercise, lifting and/or pushing.

My bleeding stopped after about three months. However, the rest of my symptoms continue.

On the website above it says that endometrial hyperplasia commonly presents with abnormal bleeding. And that cancer is a concern in patients older than 35 years of age who present with abnormal bleeding which can be menorrhagia, metrorrhagia, menometorrhagia or postmenopaual bleeding.

The most common method to diagnose endometrial cancer is through an endometrial biopsy. An ultrasound also shows the endometrium's thickness.

I am sorry you had to endure that GI doctor's attitude. He obviously doesn't have a clue and lacks bedside manners. Actually I would complain. I started to say something about rude or uncaring or poor bedside mannered doctors' behaviors. I used to just let it go, but not any more. I also tell doctors when they're acting like a god rather than being human and humane.

I hope I've been some help. I have a friend online who keeps saying to me, "BREATHE, TAKE A BREATH IN AND BREATHE." I have a lot of medical knowledge and tend to jump ahead of the doctors. And that makes me nervous and anxious. I find I need to find things to distract me. Thus my nickname on this site.

I also am a mother of 2, and I hadn't had a "yearly" in 10 years, because I didn't see any reason to because my husband is fixed. It started out that I have been experiencing some rectal bleeding off and on for a couple of years. I put that off a hemhroids (sp?). Long story short in February I had a month where I had ALOT of that bleeding for about 3 weeks pretty bad, but I kept saying oh it go away, it did. Then I started having horrible cramps during my menstruation, it felt like knives where cutting me from my rectum up to my pevic area. I couldn't even stand up straight. So after 2 months of this, I decided that maybe it might be best for me to tell a doctor, so I got an appointment with an OBGYN, told her and she scared me to death. She said the cancer word like 4 time during that visit. Next thing I know I had an appointment for the ultrasound that day, and a appointment with a GI specialist in 2 weeks. They OBGYN called me and said they saw "thickening" in my uterus and needed me to go in for a Endo Biopsy. Dumb me didn't ask any questions, I just set up the appointment for May 9 to have that done. But now it has been rescheduled for May 30. I went to the GI specialist, and I thinking he was not a specialist, because he didn't give me the time of day. He looked at my history sheet and told me I was to young for any serious problems and told me to take 2 fiberone pills, and 1 senlok (sp?)/laxative every day and basicaly walked out of the room. I looked at the nurse and asked if that was it and she said yes. I walked out so taken back, that I didn't say anything. So here it is 3 weeks later and I have no anwsers. But I do have a lot more stress and worries than I've ever had. I don't even know if they are looking for cancer or what. I want to know what the "thickening" is, could it be cancer.

I have horrible cramps, prolong periods, fatigue, consitpaiton, rectal bleeding, bloating (where I look 5 months pregant) and as for the cramps when I'm not on my period it almost feels like something pulling on my right side pelvic area, where I don't want to stretch, because I can feel it pull.

Will you please let me know your experiences.

Thanks,
Kendra
