Sounds like you are in good hands. At least your doctor is checking.

You can't really count on the CA125 test. Benign conditions such as ovarian cysts, inflammation, fibroids, etc. can cause an elevated result. Here are some links about that -

I am glad to hear your surgeon removed the cyst and saved your ovary (cystectomy) and that the cyst was benign. How recently was your surgery? All that cutting can cause some lingering pain and discomfort.
I also had a mucinous cystadenoma but was over-treated. My surgeon whom I had trusted for 19 years removed both ovaries and my uterus when all that needed to be removed was the cyst. I have connected with many women with similar stories or ones who lost an ovary due to a benign cyst so it is so good to hear that you were treated conservatively.
I hope this pain abates soon and there is nothing else going on! Keep us posted.
my dr wanted to wait 6 weeks to retest CA 125. She said that its common for CA to be elevated after recent surgery. i tested ca a week after surgery and it was 45. About 2 weeks after the test my dr requested another ca as I had a lot of unusual spotting after my period, she seemed really concerned about it. My test (4 weeks post surgery) showed that it was now 24. Is that a good sign? My dr seemed relatively happy with it but said she still wanted me to test again at the 6 weeks mark and do an ultrasound the day after test to decide whether or not to remove the ovary
What does he want to wait 6 weeks for?
