Thank you so much for Belle, your post, & Cirella, your response. I am having a total hysterectomy (open surgery) on Tuesday.
My husband won't get NEAR me, after reading that! (I may have to print it & wave it in front of him, lol).
But you're advice is really helpful to me, as is this whole forum. Cirella, how are you feeling? I wanted to add you as my friend, but don't quite know how to do the invite...
(I'm an old, pre-op cranky lady, who can't tie her own shoes these days!)
Thanks

Just read your post, thanks. I feel a little better knowing the testing for something like this isn't going to be invasive. Interesting your screen name, We are going to vegas on monday.
Yes my cervix was removed and i had an abdominal hysterectomy. I have an incision about 6 inches long. Don't think i tore anything, wouldn't it have hurt at the time? I know this is really an unusual occurrence I'm sure, but like you said whats done is done! Now i am just really scared i really messed up. I am also afraid to talk to my Dr about it because of what procedure he might do to tell if anything is wrong. I see him for post-op visit on Friday. I was also wondering what to expect of that visit. I know you don't know since your only 2 weeks post-op. thanks for info. PS am a big baby when it comes to any medical procedures. Take care too. Hopefully someone else out there will read this and make sure they dont get carried away also!
Well usually the surgen uses an argon beam (for cutting and also 'seals') and surgical clips which are used like candy nowadys (very little sewing is ever used anymore if at all).
That's why rest is needed, you can easily pull the clips...a CT scan may be able to determine more...actually maybe a CT scan with contrast....that's more than likely what they will request so they can visually see what's going on
Infection...ehhh...possible like anything. I wouldn't necessarily freak out over it...keep monitoring yourself (temperature daily, blood pressure) and let your doctor know. You want to avoid sepsis/septic shock which is a blood infection....monitoring those two will help you identify if you are before you get this treated.
Hi, well, I hope that this isn't too graphic. Not sure if your cervix was removed? If it was, then your vagina had to be reattached. If it wasn't removed you still had major surgery. I'm assuming yours was laparoscopy? Either way, sex after only 3 weeks is WAY too early. My post op papers say 'nothing in the vagina until my post op exam' in 4 weeks. (I'm 2 weeks post op with everything removed) I know you said you got carried away so what's done is done but please don't get carried away again. Your insides need to heal. You could have very well torn something in there. The pain may only be due to the movement but if it persists, please call your doctor and fess up. You don't want an internal problem.
Take care
