Bran2621 - are you a male as per your profile?
Endometriosis and ovarian cancer are different diseases. In order to have ovarian cancer, a mass of sorts must be present and having endo on your ovary does not mean that you have ovarian cancer. If you have pain, go to the doctor, ER, and see if they will at least do a transvaginal sonogram or CT Scan to ensure that your ovaries are healthy. You could have simple cysts that burst, which is common at certain times during your menstural cycle.
Have you been to see a GYN/Oncologist? No, I do not think that you have cancer, but, with your family history and the endometriosis, they might be the doctor of choice. They have 3 years additional training over an OB/Gyn.
Having a family history of OvCa only slightly increases your risks. Ovarian Cancer is still considered a rare disease. I think that in order to ease your mind, you need to see a specialist and discuss your fears and family history .

Hi, I have been having problems as well. I recently had laparoscopic surgery checking for endometriosis. In 2005 I had a small amount on my right ovary that was removed. This last surgery on April 1st 2011 showed a very small amount on the left side of my uterus. My question is, if a doctor is not looking for cancer during these exploratory surgeries can they tell if there is cancer INSIDE the ovary just by looking? I am still having tremendous pain with my periods and ovulation. I also get ovary pains pretty much daily. However, when I ovulate, it's usually my right side that hurts. It feels like I'm being stabbed and the pain goes all the way down my leg. I had a CA 125 test several months ago because I had a complex ovarian cyst. My level was only 12 and the cyst resolved on its own. My grandmother had ovarian cancer when she was in her 30's and all different kinds of cancer are rampant on my father's side. Sorry for rambling, but I don't know what to do....Any answers or advice would be appreciated.
First, there is no test for Ovarian Cancer....the only way to truly diagnosis Ovarian Cancer is by biopsy. There is a blood test, called a CA125, which if elevated, could be Ovarian Cancer, or it could be a tooth infection. The test is best used for someone that has already been diagnosed. An ultrasound can only show if there is something on the ovary, they cannot tell what it is.
HOWEVER....if ovarian cancer is suspected, the chances of a longer survival increase if the surgery is done by a Gyn/Oncologist.
The signs and symptoms include, feeling of fullness, bloating, change in bowel/urinary habits, indigestion, lower back pain, etc.
Please be advised that no doctor can "check to see if you have ovarian cancer" by a blood test or an ultrasound.
Good luck.
