Clinical trial (Liposomal Doxorubicin & Volociximab

Has anyone been on or know of anyone that has participated in clinical trial for volociximab & Liposomal Doxorubicin?  My mom was diagnosed with Stage III ovarian cancer in Oct. and has been through 2 surgeries already. Her body has built a resistance to Taxotere and carboplatin.  She was asked to be a part of this clinical trial but I'm not sure if this is the best idea.  They are putting her on doxil too for the "standard of care of drug."  She will receive doxil regardless if we participate in the clinical trial.  My concern is that Volociximab and Liposomal Doxorubicin is only at Phase I/2 in their research.  There a lot they don't know abou the drug and that concerns me.  Can someone give me some advice?  Thanks so much!

Thank you so much for responding and for the clarification.  We just found out about the clinical trial research today and want to make the most informed decision.  My mom has been through a lot in the last 4 months.  She has been through in and out of the hospital 4 times already.  She is having a hard time keeping her food down and her stomach is distended again. Your words make me feel better about the tx.  They hope to start her on the chemo drugs next week.   I hope and pray that this combination of tx will work.  We could use some good news.  Thank you for your kind thoughts and prayers.

Liposomal Doxorubicin is also Doxil. Volociximab is a monoclonal antibody like Avastin. Doxil ,on its own, can delay the progression of the cancer. Avastin is a very promising new drug that had produced complete remissions in an actual clinical trial. Monoclonal antibody stops the growth of new tumors by killing their food supplies. This new combination therefore sounds sensible for Platinum-resistant patients like your mom. I pray that your mom responds to these new drugs.
