you are all beautiful courageous women

I found this site while researching ovarian cysts  moths ago and I have stayed around to "get to know you" all.  You have all touched my life with your battle cries and unwavering strength. Your support and love for one another is a true inspiration.

The main reason for me writing this is to let you know that through you strong women I have gained an education in a silent killer that I never knew anything about.  I am now an advocate for the cause and try to educate as many people as I can.

But I also wanted to let you all know, no matter what your beliefs, I am praying for each of you daily, for strength, for courage, for a laugh and a smile.  I will never attempt to understand how you are all so brave as you are, but God bless you each for that - for that in itself is a tremendous gift to everyone who's lives you touch (even me)

Thank you for listening,
Tara

Thanks, Marie!  I'm sorry about my mom too, although I'm glad that she didn't have to suffer too much.  I miss her horribly.  She was not just my mom, but my best buddy too.

I'm sorry about YOUR mom too.  It's such an evil disease!!  Hopefully yours was found early enough to stay on top of it.  Not so much for my mom, or yours either.  I'm sure the last 15 months have totally changed your life, Marie.  I know with my own diagnosis, it made me realize what's really important.  I spent a lot of time worrying about stupid stuff - which I still do sometimes, but not as much.  Each day is a gift, that's for certain.

I will definitely try to get some of the people on our forum together sometimes.  We've talked about it, because a lot of us are fairly close.  I looked at the pictures of you all, and could tell you had so much fun.  Something none of you will ever forget, that's for sure.

Take care!!!!
Lori

I encourage you to follow through on the thyroid forum friend's meeting.  I was one of the lucky ones involved in our Springfield get-together.  It was an amazing experience.  I am sorry about the sudden loss of your mom.  My mom lived less than 3 months after her late stage ovca was found over 20 years ago.  I have managed to make it 15 months since my diagnosis.  I am thankful for every day.  Thank you for spreading ovca awareness.  Marie

Okay.....I'm going to "come out of the closet" too.  I admit, I'm a lurker over here.  I spend most of my time on the thyroid forum, as I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer last year and had my thyroid removed (yes, all cancers suck!!!).  Just when I told my mom that it was going to be a better year, she was diagnosed with ovarian and liver cancer.  She passed away 2 weeks after her diagnosis.  That took care of a "better year".  I'm hoping maybe next year?!?!?!

Anyway, after her diagnosis I came over here to peruse.  I felt and still feel the same way flmommyof2 does.  You women are something else!  I love the fact that some of you even met up with each other recently.  That's awesome.  Some of us on the thyroid forum have talked about doing that, but it's never happened.

I too, am an advocate and tell others about this "silent killer".  I don't understand why there isn't a mandatory ultrasound after a certain age - much like mammograms?  I know after going through this with my mom, I took a LIST of things to my PCP that I wanted checked.  Luckily, she's good - and she sent me for a pelvic US.  But she said to me as she handed me the paperwork, "remember.......you're having pelvic pain".  Whatever it takes, I guess!

Anyway, many of you have touched my life as well - and you don't even know it.  The support that you give and get out here is so wonderful to see.  Keep up the fight!!

Lori
