mass on my right ovary and uterus

I have a 6cm mass on my right ovary. They are unsure about what it could be. I've had a ct scan($3000) done and I have to go get a pelvic ultrasound($700) done too. I have no insurance and am 22 years old. I have had a pain/numbing in my right thigh also. I have wondered if the two are related. Im scared to death that I might become infertile. My mass keeps getting infected. I run fevers and bleed from my belly button. The doc told me that if it is a cyst that its not a normal cyst and that her suggestion was to remove the whole ovary, but if it was a tumor that they would have to do a biopsy to see if it was cancer. Like I said, I have no insurance and am in school. ANY advice would be helpful!!!!! She also told me that she herself is scared that I might become infertile bc of the infection. I am on antiboditics. I really hope that my option to have children one day isn't takin away from me before im even ready to have them.

Thank you so much for your concerns. The program im in for school doesnt provide for federal funding. It is a certificate program. Im trying to receive help from the hospital for the CTscan. I have always been an independent person so help from my parents isn't really an option. This is the 2nd time i have got the infection. I will keep yall posted. Any words of wisdom, advice, and/or comforting words will be very helpful.

So sorry you are going thru this at such a young age.

I agree, you need to get the TV/US.  I know the cost.....I just had one also and that's what mine cost.  I do have insurance tho.
If you don't have insurance, there are Discount Programs that are legitimate and do help with medical.....if you have providers in your area.
Contact me and I'll give you the name of a company I know is legit and the cost is less than $60 per month.  Then you can check for providers in your area.

I go Thursday for my 2nd TV/US.....

Best of luck to you!

I've never heard of infections and bleeding from your belly button with cysts.  I sure hope those antibiotics help.  I wonder if your cyst might have twisted and/or had other cysts that burst that might have caused the infections.

I know you can't afford this but you can't afford to play with your life.  This could be quite serious and needs to be addressed.  Can your parents help at all?  Please keep us posted.  I am very worried about you.

I am sorry your going through so much at such a young age. You do need to have the pelvic ultra-sound done, known as a Trans-Vaginal ultrasound,or TV/Us as we refer to it here. Do you know what kind of mass was identified on your Cat? Is it a cyst? Some cyst can be called masses if they have solid components, and solid component cysts are also sometimes called tumors by doctors, it can be very confusing. I've never heard of bleeding from the navel from a cyst, but that's  just me and we're not professionals here, just women who've had cysts and surgeries for cysts that try to share our informations and give support. Is your doctor a gyn?
If your doctor has suggested a biopsy that can only be done through surgery, and the size of your cyst is still small enough to get a laparoscopy which is a lot easier to recover from than a laparotomy, which has a larger incision. Where exactly did she say you have this infection, is it on the cyst and is it only on one side. If she has you taking antibiotics is she planning to do a surgery now or once it's cleared up?  If your other ovary isn't involved in the infection and is free of any other problems, then you would still be able to get pregnant with just the one. It may help you to know that most ovarian cysts are benign, 95%, so the odds are in your favor. Is there any way for you to try to get any medical assistance from the government because your a student and don't have the money to be paying for this out of pocket.  Call the social services in your area and ask if you are eligible for temporary medical assistance. It can't hurt to try and also, is there any social services or student services at your school for you to go to for help. It sounds like with the chronic infections you really need to be taken care of as soon as possible to clear up this situation.
You could try posting your question on the expert forum and get the doctors advice, it's on the left side of the page under related expert forums. If you could get copies of your report from your doctor so you can give more detailed information and also for your personal records, it would help knowing what kind of cyst it is too.
I'm sure the other women on the forum will add to this to give you some of their ideas too. Try to get your TV/Us as soon as you can.
Good luck and please keep us updated.
