1 yr post laparoscopy pains?

So it's been a year since I had the 10cm cyst removed along with my left ovary and tube. Surgery was non-eventful and recovery was fine. Still had some minor little pulling feelings on the left during the year but no pain.

Last month I ended up in ER with fever and nasty pain on the lower left and near the bladder. Turned out to be diverticulitis. Got lots of medications to clear that up. Never had digestive problems before so that was a shock.

Now it's been 6 weeks since that bit of fun but I'm still having bloating and pain along the left side and near the bladder. It hurts most by the end of the day after I've eaten 2-3 meals. Plus the bloat. In the morning I do my bathroom thing and the pressure is relieved. Even then I feel sharp little zings on the left.

Do you suppose it's adhesions from the surgery (even from a laparoscopy)? Tender bowel from the divert?  Or something new popping up to surprise me?

Maybe this is a good way to reduce my eating and be more careful. Trying to look on the bright side.

Irene, so sorry you are having these problems.  After my cyst surgery I started feeling adhesions after about 5 months.  It is like you said - more like a pulling feeling.  I do think what you are feeling is a result of the bowel issues.  I hope you can find some relief soon.

My Mom has diverticulosis and was told not to eat anything with seeds, nuts or grains because of the fear it would get caught in the pockets. The information I got when I left ER was to eat smooth, light foods for a few days and then gradually add fiber to my diet. It seems that business about no nuts and seeds is old fashioned thinking. They encourage lots of fiber in the diet to keep things moving along and keep the pressure off the bowel.

l just don't know how long adhesions take to form, how bad they would be from a laparoscopy and why the achy pain would start now. I'm thinking it's more related to sensitive colon from the divert. But blast! when will that settle down? Just hoping there's no ovarian junk hanging around in there acting up.

I know - go see the doctor. But you know what they like to do - poke around up there. Ick!

So sorry you are not feeling well.  I have questions myself on a laparoscopy and don't know much about that at all.  My Gramma had Diverticulosis though and if she ate corn or anything with seeds (Example, broccolie, tomatoes, califlower ect.) or anything that caused gas she would say it would make her left side hurt and give her little gas pains.  She used to swear by high fiber type foods.
Since you had diverticulitis I would avoid any food that could get cought in the little pouches, watch for any blood or fevers that last a few days.

I suppose it could also be due to prior adhesions too.  I don't know, just putting in my little 2 cents.

I hope someone else chimes in for you that has better knoledge than I.  Take care my friend......Amy.
