22cm cyst on Right Ovary

Starting to feak out a little. I have been going to my PCP for almost 6 months now complaining of intermittent stomach pain. They have done a million tests and kept saying I had IBS. Finally after I had gained16 pounds and my stomach was hard and round like I was pregnant I decided to take it upon myself to see my GYN.  She started the appt assuming it was routine ovulation pain then after feeling the hardnes sin my abdomen said lets do an U/S. During US the tech found a 22cm cyst on my right ovary. They says its huge but simple and needs to be removed. My Dr is ill right now so I am kind of playing a waiting game. I hate the thoughts of do I have cancer? and how am i going to care for my 4year old? I am only 29 years old. I know nothing of whether I am going to lose my ovary or what? I don't really care about that just want to be around for my little man. Any advice?

Got my path back and it was just a benign cyst! Recovery is still on but I hope I will heal quickly I have an anxious 4 year old ready for mommy to be back to normal. I am still having a little spotting off and on since my surgery but other than that all has been well how are you?

Hi kerarose
Glad it's all sorted now, so u and I are both waiting for pathology results and fingers and toes crossed for good results for us both :-)
I had mine done by laproscopy last Friday and sadly just when I thought I was healing I split my stitches in my belly button coz I was laughing! Then it became infected :-( but am taking antibiotics so hopefully it will sort it out.
Anyway thoughts and best wishes are with u
Take care

Had surgery on Thursday June  2nd. The Dr had planned on doing a laproscopy but after she opened me up and had drained over 2 liters of fluid out she ended up having to do a laparatomy the cyst was more like 30 cm by the time it was removed. She still thinks its a simple cyst nothing to worry about but I will get pathology back monday or tuesday (whichg  my birthday) praying its nothing. Thanks for the great words of encouragement.

Hey kerarose- don't be nervous, try to just be thankful it was found now! A few months back I went to ER for stomach pains and they ended up finding a 30cm tumor on my ovary and I was rushed into surgery that day! It was benign thankfully, but it was very scary! I understand how you feel and all you can do is hope for the best. I'm sure surgery will go fine and you'll be back with your kiddo soon!! I was in the hospital for 5 days, they did a laparotomy so I have a 13 inch incision down my gut. They removed the tumor along with my right ovary, right Fallopian tubes and my appendix because it was so late it crushed everything and they weren't even working anymore. I have no children yet and am only 24 so having only one ovary now worries me. Recovery was pretty tough, I'm not gonna lie, I was out of work for 2 months and the first month was hard!! But I am so thankful to be healthy and alive, and have a much flatter tummy! Feel free to message me if you have ANY questions. I had no one to talk to through recovery and was unable to really find anyone with a cyst close to the same size as mine!

Hi! I'm 23, turning 24 in December. I also came to the ER with sharp stomach pains to find out I have a 22 cm cyst on my right ovary as well. Will be undergoing survey to have it removed this Monday. Hoping my recovery time goes well. May have to lose my right ovary, but hoping that I'll still the option of bearing children if one day I decide to

Hi I know how u feel, my cyst when looked at last was size of basketball, I'm having my surgery at end of may and am absolutely terrified of the op, most Docs will tell u they don't know if u will lose ur right overy till they "get in there"
The fact that they have said it's a simple cyst is good, the reason it needs removing is because it obviously hasn't disappeared of it's own account and to leave something that heavy on ur overy will cause u more pain and could twist ur overy if not drained/removed
I hope this helps?
Take care
