Bilateral Laproscopic Ovary Removal -Yesterday

Oh boy, do I feel relieved.  I'm 56, post-menopausal and decided not to watch and wait anymore.  One ovary was getting bigger and had a cyst.  The other ovary didn't show up on the ultrasound. Now they're gone! No question to post really but my experience with the medhelp forum is that people ask questions when they're nervous and scared; no one writes when they're okay and the rest of you should know when we end up okay!

Hi,

So glad tha it went well for you and impressed that you are writing about it the next day. I'm curious about the one that didn't show up on the ultrasound though?

Welcome to the "no ovary" club.  Tomorrow is the 1 year anniversary of my surgery where I had both ovaries removed as well.  I am glad you posted to let us know you "survived", and I am impressed you are here writing about it the very next day!  I have to say, I don't miss mine one bit.  I feel so much more stable now without them, more energetic at an older age, than I did when I had them!  I hope you will feel the same benefit.

Nope. It was a 10 cm cyst and since I'm post menopausal, there was no need to keep it. They took the cyst, ovary and tube. Besides, my right ovary is still sitting there.

irene,

Did you still keep your ovary intact when your cyst was removed?

Thanks

I'm glad to hear everything came out OK (pun intended). How are you feeling now? Healing well, no more pain? No one likes surgery but sometimes it's necessary to make us feel better. I had my left ovary and a huge cyst removed almost 2 years ago now. Where does the time go? What a relief.

Thanks for updating us and stay healthy.
