Bloating !!!

i am booked in to have a laproscopy etc on 26th May 2010 and have just come across this great forum. I have 2 large cysts on my left ovary one the size of a grapefruit. The worse thing is the huge bloating, it seriously looks like i am going to give birth any second, either that or by mistake i have swallowed a watermelon ! after reading some of the posts i  feel a but better, although it seems the surgery is a bit more complicated than i realised, i thought i would only have 2-3 days off but it seems 2 weeks is more likely. I have a pre- op appointment with doctor 10th May so sure i will get all the info then, but i feel less alone now with so many others suffering like me !!! would love to hear from fellow sufferers

i also can't drink alcohol yet cause it causes severe bloating and gasy pain. andi had to buy stretchy pants cause its more comfortable than pants with buttons

I had my laparoscopy on March 26th and I stayed home for 2 full weeks - and needed it.  When I went back to work last week I discovered that I couldn't last all day, so just worked partial days.  Basically I let my body tell me when it was ready to rest.  Even though this surgery seems small due to the smaller incisions, its still major surgery and your body does go into shock.  However, if you take care of yourself, get plenty of rest, keep the pain at bay with the meds and walk around the house as you can, you'll do well and be back to your old self in no time.

Do let us all know how you're progressing and best to you during your surgery.  There's lots of support for you here - many of us have already been through it, and lots more about to go through it.  Stay strong and stay positive.

Hi, and welcome to the forum.  I think you will find that there are wonderful women on this forum with great advice.  I think the typical amount of time is 2 weeks off, but it all depends on how fast your body heals.  With one surgery I was back to work after 2 days (BIG mistake!!) and could hardly make it through the day.  The next laprascopy I had I too 2 weeks off and felt so much better.  The key is to get plenty of rest and not to overdo things.  Good luck and keep us updated on how you are doing!

i took two weeks off, andi had a 9cm cyst removed by laproscopy. however, my doctor wanted me to go back after a week. i think its more on how you feel. but i wouldnt rush back if you're not feeling up to it.
