Broken blood vessel after laparoscopy

I had laparoscopic surgery 2 and a half weeks ago, to remove an baseball sized ovarian cyst. Recovery has been much slower than expected, as I am a very healthy, very active 34 year old. At my two week follow up visit, the doctor told me that the bruising and pain I still have on one side is due to a broken blood vessel. He said they didn't notice any bleeding in the abdomen or they would have stopped it before closing my incisions back up. He also said that this will add two to three weeks to my recovery time.  I have started running and lifting light weights, but still feel very sore, and my stomach is still bloated.
My questions are: should I worry about this broken blood vessel? What kind of damage could this be causing?  Is this what's causing the continued bloating?
Thanks for any help!

Where the broken blood vessel and bruise are located, I would see a different doctor especially because your stomach is bloated.  Those three things together are not just going away and they could me something more serious!

Hello,
After abdominal surgery, it is common to find bowel inertia which can cause constipation. Drink plenty of water . Regular exercise will help improve bowel motility. For the time being bulk laxatives, stool softners and suppositories will help.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Hello again,
I went in and had a ct scan done. As I mentioned, I had started having sharp pains early this morning when I woke up. I waited almost two hours before heading to the hospital. The CT scan showed that everything looks good, and healthy. However it also showed that I am constipated. I don't feel constipated, but apparently after taking pain meds a few weeks back, my body hasn't regulated itself, and I am still backed up. Doctor says this can cause the pain. And I'm likely having pain from having the hematoma (caused by broken blood vessel).
It was embarrassing to order a CT scan to find out I was constipated, but I am happy to know. The pain is still persisting. I'm drinking tons of water now, and continuing to be very healthy with my diet!

Thank you so much for the information. I left a message with the on-call doctor at the hospital just now. I woke up with some sharp pains down where the cyst was removed. I'm going in to get it looked at this morning. :-/

Hello,
Any broken vessel after a laparascopic surgery would have caused significant bloody ooze inside the abdomen and peritonitis by now. Get an urgent ultrasound or CT abdomen to confirm the diagnosis. If there is any leakage then the fluid needs to be drained and the blood vessel repaired laparascopically.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I should probably go see someone else! I am hoping to find someone on this site who has had this happen. The doc said it was really rare. It's super frustrating!
