Even small cysts can cause some pain in the abdomen and the back, sometimes sending pain signals down the legs as well.  Many eventually go away on their own.  What follow up, if any, did the doctor recommend?

Nothing of any major concern there.  Minute cystic areas of the ovary might be an indicator of polycystic ovarian syndrome or maybe it's just normal monthly cycle stuff.  Nabothian cysts are unrelated to ovarian cysts and are almost always benign features that are left alone unless causing discomfort.  There should be a pap smear done of the cervix to make sure normal results are obtained.
