Thanks for those responses. Now that I'm pursuing this I've learned that there's the option to have the surgery done by a gynecological oncologist surgeon just in case a malignancy is found. I'm told that if you don't, and a malignancy is found, they may have to close you up and schedule the rest of the procedure at a later time with a different MD or triage with another who is kind of on standby at the time of surgery just in case. That makes me think it really makes the most sense to start with the most qualified surgeon who can handle whatever they find without triage. Anyone have experience with this?
I'd definitely call the old doctor's office and ask either the doctor himself or herself, or one of the doctor's RN's. The nurses in a given community hear who is good and who is crummy.
Put in a call to your old doctor's office. Explain to them the change in insurance, and let them know that you are looking to find someone who will accept your insurance now. They would probably be more than happy to refer you to someone and send the results of the testing they have done to the new doctor. Good luck!
