Completely freaking out...CA-125 is a little high

I heard from my doctor today and my CA-125 is 33. All I can think of is "I have cancer".

Oops! Missed your second post about the cyst. Sorry! That is big enough to need removal I think so you will get a good investigation of your insides during surgery. Please don't panic. It's overwhelming, but you will get through it.

Hi. Mine was also 33, which was elevated according to the test parameters. Some of them are normal to 35, but my test was only normal to 30. Turns out I had endometriosis which elevated the number. Illness, cysts and a host of other things can also make the number a bit higher than normal. If they took the test, then there was a reason. Do you have a cyst or other issue?

I know what you mean about not being able to take any more! I too have lost so much! My oldest daughter was killed in a car accident in 2002. she was only 21. she was a passenger, along with my oldest son, who was seriously injured. I lost my dad  a few years ago..and my husband cheated on me..the list goes on and on...so, i sure know what you mean!  have you had any symptoms with this cyst? if so for how long?

My doctors use the normal range of "zero to 35" for CA-125.  That means your result is within the normal range.  No need to panic.  My CA-125 was 34 with my cyst and it was completely benign.

I now 33 is not typically high, but at the lab it was done, 0-21 is the reference level. My cyst is 12.4 cm, fluid with 4 locules and some vascular flow. I asked my doctor about that and she thinks the cyst is around the ovary, thus the blood flow. I actually didn't get a chance to talk to her today...I will tomorrow, but she wants me to see a gyn/onc. Which makes me think she's worried about cancer! I have a sneaking suspician I may have endometriosis..I had a TVU and it said possible hemorrhagic/endometroid/cystic mass. I've always had very intense lower back pain with my menstrual periods. I had an MRI too but don't have the results back. I've just been through so much (my dad died of brain cancer in 2005, my mom had a heart attack/triple bypass/pneumonia/sepsis in 2007, my two grandmas died in 2006/2007...all this happened while in pharmacy school. My husband left me (we were just starting to try to have children!) 3 months ago. Now this. I'm sick of it! I do really trust my doc a lot...I love her. Just scared. I don't think I can handle anything else.

NOT TRUE!!!  thats actually not high!  there are sooo many factors of the test results!..being perimenopausal, periods, endometriosis...etc. those are just a few reasons levels can be up. but yours are not high. calm down..what does your cyst look like? is it fluid or solid or complex?
