Complex cyst and pelvic inflammatory disease?

hi everyone!

I'm new to this experience of cysts and honestly quite scared. I'll tell you my story first. So Thursday night I had some pain in my pelvic area and just decided to sleep it off. Sleeping it off did not work and I went to work Friday with even more pain. The pain now hurts to change position (sitting to standing or lying to sitting) and has radiated to my hips and lower back. I'm a nurse so I was in agony. Saturday the pain is even worse. I dragged myself to urgent care since ignoring the pain was not an option until Monday. They tested me for a uti which was negative of course and immediately sent me to the ER for an ultrasound. The results were that I had a small complex ovarian cyst about 2cm. I was prescribed ultram which didn't do anything. Today (Monday) I went through hell trying to see my obgyn with the secretary trying to give me medical advice but that's another story. I got another late appt and the nurse practitioner was shocked I drove there with the type of pain I experienced. They took another urine sample saying it had a lot of blood in it and we're sending it for a culture. Also they are concerned I may have pelvic inflammatory disease and gave me antibiotics and Percocet. They told me I should not be experiencing this much pain from a cyst and that it is probably rupturing causing PID. However the nurse practitioner made a comment like "I'm sure your boyfriend is good but PID is caused by mainly STDs". So now I'm not only freaking out from pain but also because I have the idea in my head that my boyfriend of 3 years cheated on me. I don't know for sure if I have PID yet they tested me for that and STDs. I'm also freaking out that I have ovarian cancer because I had a very high risk cancerous cells of the cervix and had a leep procedure. I'm only 28 years old and I haven't had kids yet. I want kids and now I'm afraid I can never become pregnant. Please give me some advice!

It does not seem like the cyst itself, being only 2cm, would cause that much pain. However, I have read where other women had small cysts and had a lot of pain thought to be caused by the cyst(s). And if the cyst is leaking or you had another one that ruptured, that can cause infection which can cause pain. So I would not be too concerned with the PID comment at this point.

As far as the prior abnormal cervical cells for which a LEEP was done, if the margins were clear and paps have been normal then cervical cancer that could have spread should not be a  concern. Ovarian cysts are very common and very rarely cancerous in women who do not have a genetic predisposition for ovarian cancer (lifetime risk being less than 2%).
