Concern about my cyst

I had my ultrasound 3 days ago and they found out that I have a small cyst on my right ovary. What is thick-walled, irregular within adnexum? It sounds like this is not a normal cyst. My ob-gyn gave me some birth control pills and come back after a month. Waiting is killing me.

Thanks a lot. I went to my OB-Gyn yesterday and I requested to have my CA125 done. I have to wait 4 days to get my result. But I read that this is not very accurate test for ovarian cancer. True? I asked her if it is possible to take the cyst off asap, and she can do that but she don't recommend it. She said it is better to wait 1 month after my menstruation and finish my 1 month BC pills. She scheduled me to see her on October 20th. Too long for me. :(

My mom has a Thyroid cancer. I'm worried that I gonna have ovarian cancer too.

First off honey, there isn't really anything like a "normal" cyst.  They are all irregular cause we are not supposed to have them.  If you Dr really thought it was something to worry about he would know that even with that small a cyst and believe me that one is tiny.  My ovaries were 11 and 14 cms by time they came out so yours are really small.
Sometimes in spite of the fact that we think weight loss may be from a physical ailment it could just be the stress of worrying and the added sadness and depression.  That kind of weight loss is not really significant.  I am not making light of it but 6 lbs isn't that much.  Please try not to let this get to you.  Take care of what you can take care of today and deal with tomorrow when tomorrow comes.  Don't waste a good worry until you know for sure that you have something to worry about.  Try to remember that you are not helping yourself by becoming sad and depressed and that those feelings will only make you feel worse.  Why don't you concentrate on something you enjoy.  A good Sunday afternoon nap, a good book, sewing, your garden or whatever it is you enjoy and feel up to doing.  If you get into something you like, I promise you will feel better about yourself and it may help you put this situation in perspective.  Don't borrow trouble sweetie, you can't pay it back.
Take a deep breath, do some yoga and tell yourself that you refuse to give into this worry and depression.

A month ago, I been having pain in my pelvic area (when bending down) and little pressure in my vigina (when coughing). No pain if I walk and stand straight. I went to my doctor and sent me to have my ultrasound done.

My right ovary measures 5x3.2x3.4 cm and contains a thick walled, irregular complex cyst. The CYST measures 2.5x2.1x1.6 cm.
My left ovary appears normal. 3.5x1.8x1.9 cm

IMPRESSION:
1. Thickened endometrial complex measuring close to 1.7 mm. Given the patient's young age, this may be physiologic and secondary to menstruation.
2. Thick-walled, irregullar, complex cyst within adnexum.

My doctor said that I don't have to worry about since the cyst is not so big and still young. Have to wait for a month and see what is the progress after taking the pills. I don't really think if the pills would help since this is not a normal cyst
(I believe)..

I'm already 29. I already lose weight from 131 to 125 lbs this September and I think I'm going into depression. I'm sad all the time. Can't help not to think about it. I'm worried a lot.

Adnexal masses are just masses in the pelvic region which can usually be felt with a regular exam.  Why did you have the ultrasound?  Did you go to the Dr with symptoms or was it a regular checkup and you were asymtomatic?  Your Dr was very proactive in ordering the ultrasound because most don't and they just put you on birth control pills and wait, which is what your Dr is doing now and that is smart.  Surgery for this can cause fertility issues and you don't want to mess with that if you don't have to.  Did they say how big it is?  They generally are not concerned with these unless they are larger than 7-10 cm, although some Drs say 5-7.  It sounds like yours is much smaller than that if he is calling it small. There is a wide range of things this could be and some of it depends on your age.  If these appear in small children they are one thing, if they appear in women of child bearing age, they are another, if they appear in post menopausal women, they indicate something else.  Going on the assumption that you are over 9 and under 50 the most common adnexal masses are follicular cysts, & corpus luteum cysts although it could be an ectopic pregnancy or even PID.  There are just so many things it could be. I would just take the meds, go back for the checkup and try not to worry.

I will report this as miscategorized so that it can go to the cyst forum and maybe they can help you more over there.  You of course are welcome to ask your questions here, but you may get more help there.  Lets hope that you won't be needing this forum.  If your Dr put you on BC pills than he doesn't think there is much to worry about.  VERY often these are misdiagnosed as cancer when only an itsy bitsy, teeny tiny, small percentage of them actually are.  : - )

Why don't you put some stuff in your profile so people know a little more about you. If you are a male than all the info i gave you is completely irrelevant.  : - )

As I said try not to worry and let us know what happens.

I think you need to change on your profile that you are male? Although there are rare circumstances. But to answer part of your question. A walled cyst is called a septated cyst and is a complex cyst. Hope this helps. I don't have an answer for the rest of it.

I do not have an answer to your question, I just noticed that no one else had answered yet, so this will bump it up and maybe someone will come along that can help better. However, you can go to the right hand side of this page and click on Health Pages and there is information on cysts.  Good Luck!
