Cysts and the Mirena Coil

I have had the Mirena coil in for 15 Months now, i went to the Practice Nurse a few weeks ago with all sorts of symptoms inc lack of bladder control and continuous dark discharge, initial inspection by the Nurse found a swollen cervix, so infection tests were carried out, they came back negative, with symptoms including lower back pain and sharp contraction like pains, i was refered for urgent scan, during the Ultra sound scan at least one cyst 30mmX30mmX40mm was found on my right ovary, the dull ache continues, gets worse when i walk, if i do anything strenuous at all, i get a popping sensation a contraction type pain and a fast flow of blood.
Should i be worried?

This discussion is related to 8cm cyst found on ovary during ulstrasound...should i be worried..cos i am!.

I've had the Mirena for almost 4 months now. In that time every ovulation has turned into a follicular cyst on the ovary that I have ovulated from. I found out the first month as my left ovary had torsion of the Fallopian tube cutting the blood supply off causing excruciating pain. A 5.5 cm cyst that had also ruptured. The next month I was sore and tender on the right now knowing what the pain is. An ultrasound found a 7.5cm cyst. This month again with pain on the left I had the cyst rupture causing pain and the ultrasound revealed a 4.5cm cyst. I think I've had enough, I'm going to get it removed. I haven't even had sex with my partner the whole entire time. My belly is bloated and I look like I am pregnant!

I just want to clarify I would like to remove the Mirena to see if my cyst problem resolves. My doctor said I could try oral contraceptives to suppress ovulation. To give my ovaries a break.

I had the mirena put in after my 5th baby in 2004, I breast fed her for over 2 years which I'm a little concerned about now. In 2009 I went to the gynae to have the coil removed and it was missing, while looking for it they found a 4cm cyst on my right ovary
I had the coil removed while under general anaesthetic in sep 09 and the cyst was to be monitored every 4months. It stayed the same size for the first 2 check ups and then I was left for 12 months before my next appointment.  When I went for my 12 month check up the cyst had grown to 10cm in size and now had a complex cyst growing from it. It gets worse, when they were removing the cyst (laparoscopically)in May 2011 they burst it and I spent 2.5 hours having the mess sucked out. They had to do another op supposed to be laparoscopically but was done laparotomically  and cut me from my navel down to my pubic bone on the 9th August 2011 to take out everything the burst cyst had touched, my omentum, appendix, right ovary and tube and lymph nodes. I was diagnosed with early stage ovarian cancer in Sep.  The link between the mirena coil and ovarian cysts needs to be told to as many women as possible.

Hi.. i was wondering if they got rid of the cancer?

I have just been told that i have a complex cyst on my right ovary and i am freaking out a little. I'm so scared that it could be cancer.

Hope everything is ok. Xx

wow,
i've had a marina coil for 8 years now well im on my 3rd one i've had 2 cyst's removed last year one over 10cm in size and the other 5cm like u all the pain i had was so sharp it would take my breath away.
when i had my opp done they replaced the marina coil which i think was funny when i think its because of the coil that i had the cyst's in the first place but every time i said that to the doctors i was told no it wasn't,
in all the time ive had it i have put on over 4 stone and find it so hard to lose it, also i had bad skin, (which has got better with time) and alot of over things also but when i ask anyone about it im told it has nothing to do with the marina coil.......
now only 8months after my 3rd coil has been put in im now getting back pain, pain on my left side and all i keep getting is water infection had over 10 since my opp back in may!!!!
i just don't want to go on the pill and i don't want anymore kids ive asked my hubby to go for the man opp lol
i wish u well xx im just so unsure about the marina coil and thats still after all this time!!!!!!!!

I had the same problem with mirena I had it in for 18 months and then I started developing cyst that ruptured. I had that happen 7 months in a row then I finally had it removed. I am taking the birth control pill now so hopefully that will help me stop producing cyst.
