I was just diagnosed on Fri with a 22 cm ovarian tumor. They did the same thing to me. When I was in there for 4 hours with 2 doctors they made it seem necessary to have surgery pretty quickly. He said that they would call to schedule. When I called them on Monday, the scheduler said , "Oh, I just haven't gotten around to it and his secretary isn't here for me to coordinate with- Hopefully, I can get back to you on Wed." When I talked with her on Wed. she said that July 21st would be the first avail. Well, to put my mind at ease from all of the miscommunication, I went down there and talked to a nurse face to face and she said that the Doctors felt that because the definitely think it's benign that it would be fine to wait. Wow- the phone tag that took place was incredible. Definitely be proactive because it seems that even the best specialists in this area can be cavalier when it comes to informing the patient.
My doctor originally referred me to a regular gyn who looked at the TVUS results and then referred me to a gyn/onc, largely due to my family history. I don't know where you are, but this was in the UK. Hope this helps.
