How long does your period last after laporotomy?

Hi there, i am not sure if any of you ladies had the same problem. I had a laporotmy about 12 days ago and ever since then, i have my period. The doctor said its normal 2bleed after the cathator is taken out but im worried cos now its so many days later and i am stil bleeding. Has anyone experienced this?

My cyst was 13x9.5cm and within it was a dermoid 5x4.8cm

How large was your cyst? Did you have any cysts on your right ovary or were they just on the left?  I just want to throw it out there-- If you're still experiencing pain in a few weeks, I would see your doctor again.  I had cysts removed in October, and by December--they were back to the same size.  So just make sure to get checked if your feeling anything abnormal.  It can't hurt, right?!

Hi thanx 4letting me know. I thought someting was wrong there. At least now i can relax abit about that but im worried cos da past few days now, im getin pain on my ryt hand side. Its exactly the same pain that i had on my left side b4 my op. And i lost my left ovary as a result of that. Im jus praying dat i dnt have 2go thro this all over again. Do u think the pain is a result of the surgery or could it be cos of my period or should i be woried and go 4a check up. Plse help.

I started bleeding the day after my surgery and that lasted for almost a week, and then I had a period immediately after that.  I think one was from the surgery and the other from a period.  Our hormones are wonky from the surgery as well and I ended up having 4 periods in 2 months after my surgery.  Things got back to normal about 3 - 4 months after my surgery.
