Left-sides ovarian ? discomfort

Okay, this has been a frustration for me now for over a year.  I have this somewhat constant aching on my left side much like I did when I would ovulate e/o month.  I am in menopause, have had an ultrasound that only showed fibroids (which I already knew I had) and my pap came back fine.  I have seen two physicians for this.  One a GP and the other an Internal Medicine doctor.  I had an x-ray because the GP felt it could be my hip.  Well it's really weird because I don't have the pain when I walk or exercise on my elliptical.  If it's a hip problem, this makes no sense to me.  When I use my AB lounger and fairly often I have this aching when I go to bed or get up in the morning.  I can feel it when I bend over and sometimes during sex with my husband.  Anybody out there have anything similar?  I sometimes worry that it's something more and yet I've always heard that cancer doesn't cause you pain.  It's the bleeding you need to worry about if you don't have a period.  I would think if I had cysts they would trigger something in my blood test or my pap.  In addition, I've also had a DEXA scan and all that showed up was a slight trace of arthritis.  I'm 58, in fairly good shape and had my tubal ligation at age 42.

I want to thank you for your input.  Do let those of us who have similar symptoms know what your CAT scan shows, if anything.  I'm beginning to think that this is somewhat of a normal occurence.  Perhaps our bodies aren't really ready for the dreaded big "M" and want to continue to ovulate and/or have a period.  Hm? Makes one wonder.  Anyway, do let us know the results.  Thanks!

I'd like to jump on this bandwagon. I too have similar pains, am in menopause so should not be feeling like my period is coming on.  I'm even craving chocolate!!   I just had a pap and  ultrasound but both came up okay.  My doc is taking it one step furhter and ordering a cat scan.  I'll let you know if they come up with something.

Hi,

I am experiencing the same thing, pain &/or discomfort on my left side which leads me
to believe that I have a cyst or something going on in there.  It is the lower left side and I
also have a little bit of swelling.  Scary I know!
I am also near 58 and I need to go have an ultra-sound & a pap test done.  Haven't been  there for awhile, but I guess this is my body telling me to go.
I have had a wedge resection done when I was 26 (1/4 of each ovary removed) so I am wondering if my problem is adhesions.  I have no other problems, no bleeding and I have been in menopause since I was 50.  Never a problem there either, just this knawing pain in my left side for about a week.  It started when I started to do sit ups to try & flatten this stomach of mine.  It looks like I stired up some trouble.
I hope you find the answer to your question.  It is frustrating I know.   The only thing I can say is if you had all your tests done and they didn't find anything then I wouldn't worry too much.  At least you are not like me not being looked at in 8 years.  Thats not good.  You are under a doctors care and that is good. I should have went at least every five years and not waited this long.
My pain feels like a soreness not a stabbing pain.  I can't believe I have that feeling of ovulation when I haven't had a period in 8 years.  Go figure!!  Good luck to you!
