My Story

Good morning, this isn't a question; more of my story.

I am a 44 year old woman in good health, although I suffer with anxiety and depression...I am on 20 mgs of Lexapro daily, and Xanax as necessary.

For the last year I have been plagued with INCREDIBLY heavy and painful periods, I haven't been feeling well, my back has been killing me...I went to my GYN (whom I love, BTW), and after several ultrasounds, was diagnosed with bilateral complex ovarian cysts.  The larger one on my right side was almost 4cm, and the other one was smaller.  Amazing that something so small could cause so many issues.

At any rate, on this past Monday I underwent laprascopic surgery.  They had told my husband that I would be in the OR about an hour, when in reality it was almost three.  The cysts had attached themselves to the abdominal wall.  I lost one half of one ovary, he removed/cleaned out all the cysts, performed a DNC, found a lot of endimetriosis which he took care of, and then performed the Novasure procedure (I have great hopes for that).

Because of my anxiety issues, they kept me overnight, and that was a good thing.  I took one Vicadin in the hospital, otherwise it was all Motrin.  The pain was never really that bad, and by Wednesday I took one Alleve in the AM and on in the PM.  That was the last pain meds I took...I have laid low, but this morning I am up and dressed...I feel kind of woozy, but I think that is from the general anesthesia...I didn't think I would be able to go to work on Monday, but I think I am going to be able.

I was really dreading this, but all in all, I think it will be a positive outcome.

Good luck to any of you who are facing this same issue.
