Ovarian Cyst Question....please.

I had a CT three weeks ago for my Crohns disease to check the progress and the cyst was not there.  I had a MRI this monday 8/15/2011 and they found a 2" cyst on my right ovary.  I cannot find any information about large cysts that grow this fast.  Could any of you please offer some advice.  I see gyno on Monday.  How aggressive should I be in treatment?  Back in June I had a slightly raised CA 125 test, but during the ultrasound I had nothing there.  I have irregular periods and horrible pain with them.

Well Monday was a bust.  They had a power outage and turned me away.  So I went to another doctor today.  They didnt even do a an exam.  She said to wait three weeks and get an ultrasound.  Is this normal?  I figured I would be told to wait it out but they didnt even check me at all.  The radiologists report just stated thats its a cyst and the size but did not define it in any other way.  I am wondering if I should try and find another doctor.

Thank you so much for answering.  Yeah I guess it might be related to ovulation, because I just started yesterday.  I have pretty fierce pain in my back right now, so maybe it is gone.  It was just so alarming to get the call.  My GI said to be seen by an Gyn right away, so it really had me upset.  I guess just too much going on with my health right now and I feel overwhelmed.  Usually I do research to get a better understanding but couldnt find anything.  I was so lost.  Thank you for some input.  I should know better Monday on what I am dealing with.

Cysts can come due to ovulation, so is it possible you were around that time in your cycle that maybe you were ovulating? Umm, I had a surgery back in April 2010 to remove 2 cysts inside each ovary, Within a month I started to feel discomfort again and sure enough I had cysts again that had become 3cm, by the end of Oct 2010 the cyst was 5cm(R ovary). At that point I was starting birth control for 3 packs consecutively to keep cysts away from the L ovary. So we think that it just slowed or stopped the growth of the cyst on R. Cause I had surgery again Feb2011 for it, and it had not gotten any bigger. Some people are just cystic.

It'll really depend, you'll have to discuss it with your doctor and a OB/GYN to find out what they think is best for you, they might try medication (hormonal or birth control, etc) to help try to shrink the cyst if it doesnt affect your Crohns, or look at surgery and see if that is the best option for you.
