Ovarian Cyst

After having the Depo Provera for 9 years I quit getting it and I have since developed cysts on my ovary. Will going back on the Depo Provera help shrink the cyst to avoid any type of procedure?

TeeJay, I am sorry to hear that you had to have surgery. I hope you recovered well. It looks like I'm going to have laprascopic surgery in two wks if this one on my right side keeps growing. and they r concerned bc of the pain I've been having.

Sometimes bc pills help manage the size of cysts (i.e. make the shrink or disappear), but everyone's body is different. I really hope it does work for you... I wasn't so lucky... Mine grew and I ended up having surgery a few weeks ago.

Oh and I have only been on my BC for a wk and since then one has ruptures and the other is still there. My gyno oncologist said it can take a few wks to see results. If its gonna actually help anyways. So its definetly worth a try. I hope this helps.

I recently have started getting cysts as well. My doctor put me on BC. He said that a lot of the time especially with functional cysts BC can help reduce them, make them vanish and can help you stop getting them. This isn't an always thing though. I would talk to your gyno about your options. good luck
